The Hare and the Tortoise – Part # 1

REALTORS® are rushers. There is no doubt about that. We cram so much into a day it’s ridiculous. Appointments never run for the time you think they will. As a REALTOR® being on time is really important to me in fact I like to be 10 minutes early just in case!

It was a sunny Sunday afternoon last fall and I was rushing between a showing and an Open House when I came around a corner in Morgan Creek to find this old guy slowly making his was across the road. He was a big guy, probably 15 inches or so. As I approached I slowed and stopped. Jumped out of the car and scooped him up. The ditch where I assume he had come from looked steep and ominous.
As I stood beside my car, turtle in hand I pondered what to do. The family I had just shown the house to and who were very clearly not “pet” people pull up behind me. I casually wave to them, give them a quick look at the turtle so they know why I am stopped, open the back door of my car, pop him into the back seat and I jump back into the car. I start driving towards my open house, turtle in back seat!  Yup just another day.
All the way to the open house I thought about the “Prince of Tides”. I think it was the “Prince of Tides” that told the story of how Esso used to use a real tiger to attract people to it’s stations.
